15,00,000 empty car seats in Mumbai everyday

The more in one, the merrier it would be.

Walking downs the streets or while traveling in DTC Bus often I am late for my office. Well, the problem is not that I am late starter; the problem actually is my everyday acquaintance with the traffic Jam. There are many ways by which we can get rid of traffic Jam and I feel Car Pooling can be one of them and can be very effective.

The Concept of Carpooling in India came very late but I guess Mumbai will be India's first commuter group to shift gears from whining about traffic and pollution to driving a sensible eco-friendly campaign. According to websites country's pioneering carpool system is likely to be launched early. MESG says, over 70 per cent of Mumbai's cars carry a single passenger. This amount to approximately 15 lakh empty seats on the road daily which a high percentage waste of fuel, power and money.

Carpooling as we see is a collective effort where people agree on some monetary terms and commute together. Besides being a good practice it has lots to do in reducing pollution and eradicating the very menace of traffic jams.

As per the latest reports "several corporations such as HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Godrej, Colgate, and Porsche India have expressed an interest," said Joshua D'Souza, CEO, Koolpool. "The system will be extended to the public as soon as we have a critical mass of 200 members in a certain area."

Not only does it offer a car owner worth money which he can actually spend on the maintenance of his vehicle but for professionals as means of profession. I see in near future Carsharing in India as profession, as an emerging industry and obviously a sensible and social way to reduce consumption of fuel. Moreover the venture is all about to decongest the city from the demon of traffic. Delhi being the capital, of course one the prime victims of this needs a collective effort from commuters.

Well we could rightly say ?The more in one, the merrier it would be'.
