You Have To Listen To These Three Songs.
Are you looking for some new tracks to add to your iPod? Download these songs to your iPod today because they are truly worth listening to. There are a lot of good songs. But how many great songs? These are three great songs and I hope you agree.
Whale - "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe" - This is one of the coolest one hit wonder songs of the 1990s. It's right up there with EMF's "Unbelievable" and Cyprus Hill's "Insane in the Brain." This song is from 1995 and the band's name is Whale. It's an interesting variation on noise rock that is palatable to the ears of Pop music fans, and perfectly weird enough to play alongside Beck's "Loser" on either college or mainstream radio. "Hobo Humpin' Slobo Babe" tells the tale of a strange woman with a penchant for violating homeless men? The humor is dark and bizarre, and quite obviously, very befitting of the Kurt Cobain era. The greatest sell factor for this novelty tune is the comical music video that was in regular rotation on both Beavis and Butt-head and Alternative Nation with Kennedy, each program geared to MTV's Rock audience of the time period.
Beck - "Loser" - Beck's first hit released back in 1993 this song has become a classic of the era. This is a song that still sounds fresh to my ears all of these years later. Certainly when comparing "Loser" to the so called grunge music of the era it is not hard to tell which one has aged better. As would become Beck's MO "Loser" contains many layers of sound and a fantastic combination of different styles with lyrics weird and fantastical enough to keep you interested on multiple listens.
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever - It's been over 40 years since Strawberry Fields Forever was recorded and it still sounds like the future to me. The perfect combination of intelligent thought provoking lyrics, beautiful music, mind bending arrangement, and mysterious sounds creates one of the absolute greatest songs ever recorded. Strawberry Fields Forever has inspired countless songs and I do not think a single one of them matches up to it's singular brilliance. This is a song for all time. If you've never really listened to Strawberry Fields Forever with your eyes closed with your headphones on then you are in for a treat. This is the universe set to sound. Enjoy.
