3 Must Download Tunes.

Are you looking for some new tracks to add to your iPod? Download these songs to your iPod today because they are truly worth listening to. There are a lot of good songs. But how many great songs? These are three great songs and I hope you agree.

The Super Furry Animals - "Chewing Chewing Gum" - The Super Furry Animals are one of the most creative musical groups in recent history. They are unfortunately largely unknown in the United States so if this is your first time hearing about them I suggest you go out and get their albums immediately. You may want to start out with 1999's Guerrilla which includes the excellent tune in question "Chewing Chewing Gum." This song like most of the Super Furry's work is unabashedly psychedelic with swirling madness and uncountable layers. This may be the definition of headphone music. The lyrics may be throwaway but the music is splendid. If you're a music person then this song is for you.

Electric Light Orchestra - "Mr. Blue Sky" - This is ELO's greatest song. It's catchy. It's psychedelic. It's inventive. This song makes it almost impossible not to smile while listening to it. It could be said that this song combines all of the excesses of the 70s but it somehow combines all of these excesses to pure perfection. Make a song that sounds as good now as is it did 30 years ago. The best example of Jeff Lynne's musical mastery.

The Postal Service - "Such Great Heights" - Certainly this song has already established itself as one of the classics of the new century. The song has gained great popularity both for it's original version and for a cover by Iron & Wine which has been featured both in a hit movie and in a candy commercial. For it's all of it's ubiquitousness you would think that the song would have worn out it's welcome. But it has not. It's just a great song that is catchy and palatable for the masses but also smart enough for the music freaks. A wonderful song that works both as a techno pop workout and as a gentle acoustic ballad. It's also far better than anything I've ever heard by Death Cab For Cutie.
